Our Mission...      

Gan Discovery is a private nursery school for children 2 – 4 years old, located in Jerusalem, Israel. We are inspired by our eternal Torah and Jewish ethical and societal values, with a deeply felt dedication to the Jewish people, Zionism and the State of Israel. The Gan is committed to excellence in Jewish and secular learning, and seeks to educate Jewish children in a caring and supportive environment.

The Educational Philosophy of Gan Discovery 

Our Educational environment; 

-     Each child is a unique individual that will thrive and grow when provided with support to develop their own talents and strengths

-       Academic success is closely tied to cognitive, social and emotional development

-         Fields of activities, including all subjects are closely integrated in order to maximize and reinforce learning

-         The Gan maintains a wide selection of educational toys and tools that provide each child with a challenge and the opportunity to learn and develop on an individual as well as group basis

-         We seek to achieve superior results in all areas of religious as well as secular education, where our goal is to instill love of learning in the children

-         The family, together with the Gan, plays the all important function of educating the child. It is the mutual re-enforcement of new skills learned, and new knowledge acquired that will give the ultimate result.

-         The centrality of a Torah based value system, the State of Israel and religious Zionism as the fundamental building blocks and the glue that ties the Jewish people from around the world into one nation

-         The inherent responsibility of all Jews from around the world and in Israel for each other 

-         Jewish education, integrated with excellence in secular learning, as a necessary basis for a positive and strong world view, where pride in our Jewish heritage enables us to be productive members of Israeli and world society

Parents may support and reinforce what the children learn in Gan Discovery by;

-         Read to your child everyday. Help to develop a love and appreciation for    

books. Pick a cozy place you can both look forward to.

-         Discuss with your child what you see, hear, smell, think, remember and feel.

-         Write stories as your child tells them and bind them into simple books he or she can look back at.

-         Teach your child self-help skills such as tying, zippering and dressing himself.

-         Provide adequate rest and nutrition (it’s needed in our active classrooms).

-         Reinforce our classroom rules at home.

-         Remind your child of important safety rules.

-         Help your child learn organizational skills. Don’t do everything for them.

-         Please check with your child each day for notices and important papers coming home in their bags.

-         Ask them how their day was. Show real interest in what they learned and what they did.
